In almost every case, we do everything we can to reduce or eliminate having to use chemical treatments on our hives. For almost every problem a hive can have, there are alternatives to using chemicals on your hive. However, in the event that you do need to use a chemical treatment, there are serious warnings for many of them below. These products can be DEADLY to both bees and humans, so read the warnings and directions carefully! Click on any of the products below for their warnings and directions. Remember: ALWAYS read the directions on the package and follow them carefully!
NOTE: Effective January 1, 2017, antibiotics used by beekeepers will no longer be available over the counter. In an effort to address concerns with antibiotic resistance, the FDA has ruled that antibiotics used to treat common bee diseases will now need to be ordered by a veterinarian either through a prescription or Veterinary Feed Directive (VFD). Beekeepers can no longer diagnose and treat problems requiring antibiotics without a licensed veterinarian.
